Game Design Outline
1. Game Mechanics
Discuss any and all game mechanics unique to your game idea choice based horror game
2. Genre
Game genre horror
3. Platform and Controls
What consoles and why. Map out control schemes average movement controls (w,a,s,d / joystick) combat mechanics / choice and decision making character customisation
4. Avatar
The main character that you control. Look, abilities, background you play as an angel banished to limbo who has to fight there way to heaven, turns out the choices you made depends the end game such as doing as the voices tell you and slaughtering the monsters in limbo will get u banished further below and not killing monsters will actually give you the good ending
5. Camera Perspective
this/first person? Top down? Etc. Why?
3rd person from behind so you can still see your avatar but thereβs still some mystery to it
6. Goals and Scores What are you aiming to do? What are your rewards? What βcurrencyβ do the game have if any (what can you spend) itβs a game where u can change the story based on your decisions creative a new experience each time currency would be souls of the monsters you defeat, making it harder to get the good ending
7. Progression and Variety
How will you keep the game varied and interesting throughout unique story / choosing your own story
8. Tension and Rest
How will you build moments of tension and excitement. How and when will you let the player relax (but not become bored) battles with monsters and possibly a hunger mechanic and chase scenes
9. Obstacles and Penalties
What is in the way of the objective? What is the penalty for failing an objective. penalty for failing the objective is the good ending which wont be known until the end game as a plot twist
10. Resources
What can you pick up and use? crafting mechanic to make better armour and weapons and upgrades. Also loot boxes and enemy drops
11. Decisions
What decisions can the player make during the course of the game, action or story based? the choice to fight or to spare the enemies, a game basically about what your morels are because as the game progresses your morels will be tested over and over too see how far youβll go to get the βgoodβ ending
12. Storytelling
How will the story be told? Through game, cut scenes, voice overs, etc after each battle a voice will talk to you to tell you the next enemy you have to defeat but there will be clues around to hint to not listening to this voice presumed to be the heavens
13. Art Direction and Style
How will the game look, what is itβs visual inspirations? I want to go for a stylized game with 3d models that look 2d, I want my style to stand out from other games, to be detailed but not overly realistic
14. Sound Design
I want heavy music for the battles and depending on what path you take depending on how heavy and dark the music gets.
